Advantage+ audience
An automation that uses your audience settings as a starting hint and then looks outside them.
Your interests, ages and behaviours become a suggestion rather than a boundary. Meta begins there, watches who actually converts, and expands. Geographic targeting is the exception and stays hard, but everything else is negotiable from Meta’s side.
Why it matters for HVAC
Homeowner targeting for heating and cooling is genuinely hard to define by interest, and automation is often better at it than a media buyer guessing. A contractor with real volume across a metro frequently sees automation find pockets of demand nobody would have targeted deliberately.
The risk is volume-dependent rather than philosophical. With enough weekly events, expansion finds people. Without them, it spends a small budget across an audience too broad to learn anything from, and the account never stabilises.
How it is measured
Compare cost per booked job rather than cost per lead, because expansion reliably lowers the second and does not always lower the first. Check the demographic and placement breakdowns to see where the expansion actually went.
A worked example
A contractor at $9,000 a month switches on audience expansion. Leads rise 34% and cost per lead falls from $52 to $39. Booked jobs rise 6%. The expansion found a large group of cheap, mildly interested people, and the account is now paying to talk to them.
These figures are invented to show the arithmetic. They describe no real business.
Where this is demonstrated
The Advantage+ against manual pillar scores every listed agency on what they document here, and gives you the questions that tell you which one you are being sold.
